So today I needed to do some landscaping around my house. The time had come to trim the hedge around my home only I could not find my step ladder which would make it impossible to trim to top of the hedge around my home. So I decided I would back my Range Rover Classic up to the bushes and stand on the tailgate to trim the hedge! It worked perfectly, and for the really tall bushes I stood on the roof :) I think I have officially done everything possible with that thing now! I love my Rover!

A fews days ago I was speaking with my friend about his new Defender that he got a great deal on. He only paid $5,000 USD for a 97 Defender 90! A deal like that is just too good to be true so I asked him how he got such a great deal and he began to share the vehicle's history with me. This Defender was in a bad accident where it actually went off the highway and rolled several times down a 50' hill. The vehicle was so badly stuck that 5 tow trucks failed to get the Defender back onto the street and the Rover had to be air lifted by a hellicopter out of the ditch.

The Defender 90 had sat for over a week upside down on it's roof. After the vehicle was airlifted back onto the street my buddy put the key in the ignition and the engine started right up! He had to put a new batter in it, but with the new battery the rover ran and then he put it into gear and found the Rover was still entirely road worthy. Minus the fact that the body was completely destroyed and the roll cage all bent out of shape. Not only ws the Rover still running but the guy who was in it when it crashed walked away from the accident.

My buddy took the Defender home and put all new body panels on it and welded a new roll cage and now it looks as good as new. He still drives this around with the original engine and original transmission. I do not know of any other vehicle that could survive a crash like that and still be driven with the original engine after sitting upside down for a week! No major engine or transmission work was needed. The frame of the vehicle remained in fantastic condition and my buddy is now driving a 97 Defender that he has about $10k USD invested! What a deal and what an awesome indestructable Rover!

Dante's Blog - Victoria Beckham joining the Land Rover Design team?

I have read in a few places online that Victoria Beckham is helping the Land Rover Design Team with their new design! I think this is awesome, despite the fact that she is one of the prettiest woman to ever live, I think she has great style. Every time I see her in a magazine or on TV she is always wearing something trendy and cool and I am excited to see how her influence will effect the design. A few years ago I heard that the new Range Rover's were going to up the level of luxury and further elevate reputation as being the most luxurious SUV available.

I have heard all sorts of rumors about this new Land Rover design and I cannot wait to see what actually gets put into production. I have heard that every seat will recline and that their level of luxury will be parallel with that of a Rolls Royce! As if being a Land Rover was not enough you have to appreciate their desire to constantly raise their level of excellence!

This is awesome, I am so excited to see a Land Rover Enthusiast website that allows its members to have their own blog! I feel like this could produce a wealth of knowledge when it comes to having to make a repair to my Rover. If other members of this community blog about their repair procedures then I can read their blog and figure out how to fix mine. Between these new blogs and the forum I should be all set and never have to pay the ridiculously high repair shop prices!

I am excited about this brand new Land Rover Enthusiast Blog site, LROffroad.com's online community for Land Rover Owner's is cooler than Facebook and exclusively for Land Rover Owner's! That's great!

LROffroad.com's Land Rover Enthusiast Blog - The new Jeep shows wanna be Land Rover Technology!

By now you might have seen the newest commercial for the re-designed Jeep Grand Cherokee. Jeep has always been a plenty capable vehicle and for the money it's not a bad choice and the new body style and interior is sharp looking. However, while watching the commercial you can't help but notice their new turn dial button that lets you select what type of terrain you are driving on! Oddly enough this turn dial is strikingly similar to what every Land Rover LR3 owner has become familiar with. Years ago Land Rover felt that simply shifting into Low Range 4 wheel drive was primitive and that Land Rover owners should be able to prepare their vehicle for the type of terrain they were to be driving on. Land Rover gave their 4 wheel drive system more of a brain and the different terrain options mean that your Rover will adjust ever so slightly to improve your traction while in any situation. Now, 5 years later it appears that Jeep has decided to copy Land Rover with their system, I just wonder if it will be as good as Land Rover's system.

Now before the Jeep fans get all bent out of shape and think that I am knocking their favorite car company. All I am trying to say is that it appears that Jeep is trying to keep up with Land Rover by creating a similar technology. Now, while the new Jeep Grand Cherokee may be easy on the eyes, I still think that for just a few more dollars every month, I would much rather drive a brand new LR4. Not just because you better stock articulation and more luxury features, but because after owning my first Land Rover Discovery, I can not imagine ever not owning a Land Rover. They are just that addictive!
